Les Combes - J'taime

The TomTom was truly tested yesterday. Destination - the tiny hamlet of Les Combes in the community of Saint Astier de Duras - 10 km south of Duras (the last point the TomTom could find!). Luckily, between the old-fashioned paper map and 3 phone calls to local helpful English house manager we made it to paradise!







This house is more beautiful in real life than it was on the website. Even better, we have the house entirely to ourself (nikki and Brett - you know what I mean!). As we pulled up outside, we were amazed at how lovely the house was and how incredibly 'postcard' the rural French countryside is around here. And then, we went inside.....








This is without a doubt, the most beautiful house I've ever been in. Every room is colorful, warm and furnished with eclectic pictures, ornaments and worn funky furniture. It is the kind of house you could seriously move to another country for! If we weren't already completely in love with the place, the deal was sealed the moment we walked into the den/living room and saw this...


Yes, an entire wall of bookshelves, full of English modern literature and cook books - I am in heaven! Next blog is going to be dedicated to the most impressively fitted out kitchen you could imagine - I can't do it justice at the end of this blog.
