Crash course in Italian driving - Amalfi Coast!

I was a bit nervous about the impending car hire pick up at Rome airport today. Earl was unnaturally calm and Henry was concerned we were all going to die in a car crash. Fortunately, the Tom Tom decided to work and after several bunny hops in the Europecar carpark (manual) we were on our way south.

Tori took great pic from moving car as we sped along on the wrong side of the road, heading for Naples. After a brief but traumatic toll experience (English button not working, didn't know to put in little ticket we'd got at earlier checkpoint before it could tell us how much to pay, Earl stopped too far away from machine & an ever increasing line of tooting Italians parked behind us - arghh!), we found ourselves driving through what felt like a movie - check it out!

Possibly hadn't really thought through my great idea to drive the Amalfi coast on Earl's first day driving in Italy. However, he rose to the challenge and we arrived safely in Marina del Costa, a small village famous for diving near Positano.

We almost stayed in the 16th century tower 5 metres from the van (pic above) but we are now on economy drive after 3 days in Roma (did I mention shoes/boots in previous blog?)....!

Instead we stayed in a slightly smelly caravan right next to the tower and saved ourselves about 60 Euro or more importantly, 2 more pairs of shoes.
