Success!

Yes - we have managed to fit all in our four carry on bags! I had thought we might have to resort to one check in baggage but after some tough love advice from my friend Sarah earlier today (thanks!), I went home, culled more clothes and now have 4 carry-on bags weighing under 7kg each!

Oh joy - have just discovered that for some reason, can't upload/use images on iPad on our blog - arghhh! Conveniently found this out AFTER buying the camera card reading thingy for my iPad...sigh. This means friends/family will have to put up with text blogs UNTIL we can get somewhere with a computer/laptop for me to hack into and upload a shedload of pics.

But until this time, here's a photo showing you just how excited my children are to be going away for 2 months...look at the big happy smiles on both their faces (and please, note those 4 beautifully packed bags!)..sigh.... :)

St Emilion and snails...

Just as we were leaving Les Combes, the very helpful English caretaker Adrian said we couldn't leave the area without visiting St Emilion. Apparently, it is one of the more famous wine villages in the region and when we arrived 40 minutes later, I could see why.

Just in case you've forgotten what we look like, here's one of those rare pics where both kids look great!

Yes, it is a bit predictable but we decided to do the 'escargot' part of our holiday at a lovely courtyard restaurant in the heart of St Emilion. We all tried them - kids had one each and Earl and I ate the rest. Very yummy with lots of garlic and parsley - hmmmmm....look at Henry go!

And then, instead of getting to Bourge as we'd planned, we made a family decision to head to Bordeaux for an overnight stay. Its a much bigger city than most of the places we've been to lately but we were so glad we did. There were loads of beautiful buildings and streetscapes but seriously, check out this amazing fountain.

Apparently, all the metal in this fountain was taken away to be melted down to help the French war effort during WWII. Many years later, all the components were discovered completely intact and the fountain was restored to it's former glory in the late forties - lovely.

And finally, something for the 'sweetooths' amongst you - nobody does macaroons like the French - yum yum yum!

Ok - here's a test....

Unfortunately still no happy smiles BUT have sorted pic issues! I am queen of my Mac domain at last.

Leaving Las Vegas (or Melbourne)...

Yes, it looks like we're almost gone. Kids finished school today, 'please contact Adam' emails sent to clients (thanks Adam!), Earl slept in until 7.30am this morning AND a last minute shopping spree at Lowpoint - this is living!

But no, this is what is really living....Perugia here we come!
